We remember our Uncle Rudy who was KIA in Vietnam fifty-seven years ago November 14th, 1966 along with fellow crew members Sgt Daniel Morris Bennett and Capt Leon Gordon Chadwick III.
In 2021, Marine Observation Squadron Six (VMO-6) held a reunion in Triangle, Virginia from October 12th-15th and paid tribute to fellow squad members killed in combat.
Through the voices of fellow Marines, and eyewitnesses to his final mission, we preserve Rudy’s story and fight to secure posthumous citizenship in his name. Watch interviews.

Marine veteran Jesse Mendez recalls the last day he saw his friend and fellow Marine Cpl. Rodolfo “Rudy” Gonzalez — shot while exiting a downed helicopter in Vietnam, 1966.
Rudy flew dangerous missions not for pay, but because he loved to serve. He never received the U.S. citizenship he earned through his sacrifice.
